Mountains Beyond Mountains by Tracy Kidder
I just finished reading Tracy Kidder’s phenomenal narrative on the extraordinary life of Dr. Paul Farmer (which includes other notable activists: Jim Yong Kim, Ophelia Dahl, and many more). Kidder describes Farmer’s unconventional, albeit meticulous and inspirational, methods for bringing healthcare to the impoverished people of Haiti. Through his travels and interactions, Kidder manages to dissect the complex philosophy behind Farmer’s work with his abrasive yet poignant statements on his mission to cure tuberculosis and AIDS, and ultimately end social inequalities globally.
Highly recommended for anyone seeking a moral imperative.
